Miyako Island is located approximately 300 kilometers southwest of Okinawa Main Island, and it takes about 50 minutes to get there by airplane. The island is also located in the center of the Miyako archipelago, consisting of eight large and small islands, and is formed by uplift of coral. Miyako Island, which has the largest land area of the islands, is located at the center, and is connected to Irabu island and Ikema Island by long bridges built upon coral reefs between the islands. This magnificent view can only be seen in the Miyako Region. Spectacles of nature abound, including the varied coastline and breathtaking island beaches. Moreover, the wide variety of must-see spots such as historical sites and cultural facilities will keep visitors busy.
