The Northern part of Okinawa Main Island is full of rich, beautiful scenery unique to the semitropical ocean climate. Yanbaru

“Yanbaru” is a treasure trove of natural greenery and abundant life. The semitropical old growth forest extends almost to the coastline, while the thick evergreen broadleaf forest is home to a unique tropical ecosystem. Precious and rare animals such as the Yanbaru kuina (Okinawan Rail) and the Noguchi-gera (Okinawan woodpecker), are protected species native to Yanbaru. Eco-tours are increasingly popular, and spending a day canoeing at Gesashi Bay, or trekking and sea kayaking to Hiji Falls, is a great way for visitors to experience the rich nature to be found in this region. Visiting Yanbaru is a great way to experience the mystery and the magnificence of the jungle.

Motobu Peninsula

Motobu Peninsula is a fixture among Okinawan sightseeing destinations. Visit the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium and you will meet whale sharks and mantas leisurely swimming in the huge world-class water tank, while Nakijin Castle, registered as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, is famous as the largest Gusuku (Gusuku means castle in the Okinawan dialect) in Okinawa Prefecture. The magnificence of its ramparts and beautiful curves make it a masterpiece of ancient architecture. Kouri Bridge, which is breathtakingly suspended over the emerald green sea, is highly recommended for a drive.

Onna Coast

The Onna Coast is one of the top resort areas in Okinawa. You can enjoy some spectacular views perched atop the stunning cliffs of Manzamo and Maeda Point, to name just a few spots. At Busena Marine Park visit the only underwater observatory in Okinawa. Or, if you feel like a little privacy, relax and enjoy yourself amidst the breathtaking beauty of Mission Beach. Onna Seaside Park Nabii Beach, is a famous diving location featuring many varieties of richly-colored tropical fish swimming around the coral reef, and can be enjoyed even if you are beginner-level diver.
