Story 8: Garden Wedding
Today’s Smile in The Tomorrow’s Sky
Today’s smile and tomorrow’s sky

You smile as the sun shines down on you through the leaves, and I can’t take my eyes off of you. With the tropical Okinawan forest as a backdrop, it’s as if your white dress is emitting a pure light.

The tables are beautifully set with overflowing arrangements of vibrant greenery and lavishly colored flowers. The preparations are coming along, and soon our ceremony will begin. The guests must feel overcome by the feeling of freedom in this place as they breathe in the air. Like the flowers that surround us, the faces of our guests shine brightly. This is the original wedding style we chose.

It’s like the scene from a foreign movie I saw long ago. A bride walks along the petal-strewn aisle, the fine lace of her dress gleaming with precious stones. Her movements are refined like those of an aristocratic lady. Her cheeks blush with the redness of happiness as her father escorts her to the alter where her beloved groom awaits.

Just like that movie scene of a cozy, romantic wedding, I want to create an unforgettable memory surrounded by flowers and greenery. Yes, that’s why we chose Okinawa: because flowers bloom year round. Okinawa truly is a special place.

A sweet fragrance hangs over our wedding place. The red hibiscus flowers shine a vivid red. The grove of palms stand tall and straight. The banyan tree dangles its roots to the ground in bunches and looks as if it could start walking. All the green residents of this forest seem to bless our union. It’s like our banquet is a picnic with them, and there’s a sense of coziness and relaxation. When the breeze blows through the trees, it is the best feeling in the world.

We specifically wanted to make ours a garden wedding, with real flower petals thrown over the bride and groom, as well as a balloon release. All those silver balloons carry hopes and wishes for the future high into the air. May our lives be filled with happiness and smiles for many years to come. We take each others hands and face the same direction. With that wish in our hearts, the two of us today look toward tomorrow’s sky, and smile.
